The Indian drone industry is on a transformative growth trajectory with the recent liberalisation of export policy for civil drones which allows civil drones with a maximum 25 km range and/or payload capacity of 25 kg to be exported with a General Authorisation for Export of Drones (GAED) which is valid for 3 years. The liberal drone rules 2021, airspace map for drones, PLI scheme, import prohibition on foreign drones, liberal export policy and other positive initiatives are propelling India to become a global drone manufacturing hub.
